Presentation of OpenLab Friday

Desde 04/04/2008 07:04 hasta 04/04/2008 12:04

On Friday 4 April at 7 pm Medialab-Prado will present OpenLab Fridays, a space to work, meet, and experiment open to all persons interested in developing or collaborating with projects, prototypes or experiments with interactive and audio electronic devices, and/or with artificial vision systems.

Schedule: every Friday evening from 5:30 to 8:30 pm

No registration necessary

During november and december 2007 and january 2008, Medialab-Prado and ETSI Industriales (UPM) (UPM) collaborated in offering a set of workshops on creative uses of electronics and programming. ETSII students and Medialab-Prado users from other fields participated.

Ongoing activities offering continuity after the experience of those workshops, which aimed to combine training with project development, will be of two types:

1. Training Workshops

These 4-5 day intensive workshops aim to meet the demand for basic technical knowledge. Workshops comprise classes, exercises, and building a practical example or small prototype.

Workshops scheduled for April and May at Medialab-Prado:

2. Fridays OpenLab

On Friday evenings, Medialab-Prado is offering a space to meet and experiment open to all persons interested in developing or collaborating with projects, prototypes or experiments with interactive and audio electronic devices, and/or with artificial vision systems.

Persons interested in taking part in these meetings may work in the space at Medialab-Prado, tell others about their projects, and share possible solutions to technical problems or reorient project development in collaboration with others.

Therefore, meetings will be focused on:

  • Project and prototype development
  • Theoretical discussions
  • Meeting point and presentation of collaboration proposals

Initial Working Group (which other interested persons may join): Yago Torroja (ETSI Industriales), Enrique Esteban (ETSI Industriales), Enrique Tomás (Robotics Laboratory at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid), Ángela Ramos (Collaborator of Arduino España), Igor González (Collaborator of Arduino España), Jorge Cano (artist and professor at IED), Martín Nadal (programmer and artist), and Pablo Ripollés (ETSI Aeronáuticos).
