Medialab Prado is a programme run by the Madrid City Council's Culture and Sports Department. Created in 2000 and initially housed in Conde Duque Cultural Centre under the name MedialabMadrid, in September 2007 it moved to Plaza de las Letras, where it occupied the ground floor of the former Serrería Belga (Belgian Sawmill). At that time, it was christened with its current name, Medialab Prado, a reference to its new location next to Paseo del Prado, near the Prado Museum and the Reina Sofía Museum. In April 2013, after remodelling works had been completed, it moved inside the building of the Serrería Belga (Belgian Sawmill).
