Situated Research 24-25

Andreas Lutz
Workshop by Andreas Lutz

Grants to develop research projects for 12 months within the framework of the themes proposed by Medialab, and in dialogue with the communities linked to it.

Medialab calls for three research projects that develop, during a maximum period of one year, a research project within the framework of the themes proposed by the Medialab curatorial manager, and in dialogue with the activities of Medialab's annual program and the communities linked to it.

Medialab is a space for innovation and research that welcomes projects that are too exceptional to fit into the strict lines of academic research, often incapable of bringing together and intertwining diverse disciplines or intermediate positions between thought and practice. Medialab's mission is to fill this institutional void as far as possible, welcoming and promoting ideas and projects that, despite their brilliance and transformative capacity, do not find their place in the more disciplinary public programs.

RESOLUTION OF THE CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The three researchers selected by public call to develop their project in Medialab are:

Ana Esteve Reig, with the project "La Historia Interminable".
XenoVisual Studies Collective (XVS), formed by Esther Rizo Casado, Pilar del Puerto, Andreas Daiminger, Mar Osés and Aníbal Hernández, with the project "Algorithmic Alienation and Xeno-Tuning".
Maia Gattás Vargas, with the project "Indagaciones atmosféricas".

The jury in charge of evaluating and assessing the 85 proposals received in the call was:

► Bani Brusadin, independent curator, teacher and researcher, was one of the LAB#03 mentors.
► Maria Ptqk, curator and cultural researcher.
► Manuel Correa, documentary filmmaker and researcher, whose project "Registrando la memoria" was part of the #InvestigaciónSituada 22/23 call for proposals.
► Javi Garriz, program manager of #MedialabMatadero.

Throughout the course 24/25, the three selected, will publicize the progress of their work through workshops, seminars and debates, among other activities, in dialogue with Medialab's programming and communities. The results and conclusions of their research will be presented in a conference open to the public in the first quarter of 2025.
