For a long time, this assembly was anchored in the visible—a photograph, a physical map, or a witness account. Today, however, these forms of evidence exist alongside a new, digital architecture of truth. Deep within this black box, states and corporations manufacture the facts that sustain their imaginaries. This production relies on a spectrum of material that often remains invisible to the eye: satellite traces that redefine landscapes, credit footprints that determine social mobility, metadata that maps our private associations, or algorithmic profiles that track our habits. Repair Café Madrid is a weekly meeting to repair small everyday objects and learn to look at them in a more sustainable way. Neighbors can learn how to repair their broken appliances with the help of handyman and accompanied by a coffee. It also has a section of Electroganchillo. Where Repair Café Madrid meets at Medialab Matadero (Terrario room) starting in 2015 in the Serrería Belga building coordinated by the TimeLab working group and the Escala Digital mediation-research project, making use of the resources and tools available at the center. To participate in the meeting no prior registration is required, just come on a Saturday between 18:00 and 20:00 with the device (electrical or electronic) that needs to be repaired.
