Drawing on her experience as an artist, 3D designer, and forensic researcher, Martyna Marciniak will introduce the participants to a range of techniques for identifying synthetic images and their characteristics: from basic strategies of image verification to critical media theory and forensic visual analysis. These skills will then be applied to selected case studies, further informing the development of a vocabulary of visual tropes and aesthetic qualities that are associated with visual evidence, and which are simultaneously used to fabricate trust. Repair Café Madrid is a weekly meeting to repair small everyday objects and learn to look at them in a more sustainable way. Neighbors can learn how to repair their broken appliances with the help of handyman and accompanied by a coffee. It also has a section of Electroganchillo. Where Repair Café Madrid meets at Medialab Matadero (Terrario room) starting in 2015 in the Serrería Belga building coordinated by the TimeLab working group and the Escala Digital mediation-research project, making use of the resources and tools available at the center. To participate in the meeting no prior registration is required, just come on a Saturday between 18:00 and 20:00 with the device (electrical or electronic) that needs to be repaired.
