Light, Space, and Perception: selected proposals

Analogical matrix hologram—Emanuel Andel

Analog hologram matrix

It’s a simple idea: make an analogical holographic by using a matrix of transparent bulbs. By turning on combinations of these bulbs simple images, shapes and animations can be generated. An initial prototype of 5 x 5 x 5 will be made. In a second phase, the matrix should occupy an entire room in order for the experience to be as immersive as possible.> Download Proposal Analog hologram matrix (pdf in English)

Searching for Deviations—Óscar Sainz / Mónica Bujalance

The authors propose creating a product supported by water, with the projection of an element of light, and the surrounding space as a receptor of optical phenomena produced by the other two aspects. The prototype consists of a receptacle containing water in its three stages and the energy necessary to alter them, as well as a controlled surrounding space where the images can be captured.

Mutating Kaleidoscope—José Manuel González Martínez

This is a digital projection on a modular sculpture that changes shape, color and sound as the spectator moves about in the room.

The shadow of doubt—blablabLAB

La sombra de la Duda

[… that nature, constantly observed and learned about up to the point of being forgotten, was trashed by a negligible, if transcendental, gesture. I know it wasn’t me. It remained paralysed a moment, as if it were doubting the convenience of continuing to imitate my movements. After this brief moment of dissociation, the laws of physics continued following their natural course and my shadow and I were once again as one. Perhaps only in appearance….]

Live Dividing Walls—Belén Butragueño Díaz

Medianeras vivas

The author proposes acting upon dividing walls by “planting” thousands of microfilaments glass optic fibre that stimulate by moving in such a way that they resemble a wheat field, upon which multiple geometric shapes are formed by the wind… With this operation, the dividing wall stops being a residual space and becomes a changing canvas, which is self-lit and consolidated as a surrounding activity forager, an icon, a point of interest, a projection of artificial nature in a totally urban environment. > Download proposal Medianeras vivas in English (pdf)

Through the Looking-Glass: Opening Windows in the Wall - Manuel Sánchez Gestido

Through the Looking-Glass

The author presents a technical design for creating an artificial (illusory) generic window by means of reflections in a mirror recorded by a camera and the projecting of these images as if they were seen from the user’s perspective. This technical device is also proposed as part of an installation and / or combination of other elements in diverse contexts. > Download Proposal Through the Looking Glass in English (pdf)

Beta_Version - David Rodríguez

versión beta

This is a staging based on an optical illusion and a video in real time. The actor-performer moves upon a stage built from pieces of wood, modelled on feet and easels, anamorphic designs and tiny models. Using a system of artificial vision that follows its movements, the projection is initiated and it shows us the entire theatrical stage created a by optical illusion.
Contemporary theatre influences include Robert Lepage, Sonia Gómez, Sergi Faustino, M. Depauwn & B. Van Hoestengbergeh, Big Art Group, Diana Junyent.
The project is supported by the Teatro Pradillo of Madrid.

Below you will find the application form for collaborators that would like to take part in the development of prototypes during the two production workshops planned for next January and March. Projects proposed by Daniel Canogar, Julian Oliver y Pablo Valbuena will also be developed.
