Project production workshop

In 2009, Visualizar will highlight the importance of data structures today in public decision-making and governance processes. There is a growing movement in favour of making databases generated by scientific research and the vast quantities of data generated by public administrations available to everyone, in formats that make it possible to reuse them and foster citizen innovation processes. What are the social benefits of fostering a culture of free, open data?

This workshop aims to be a collective platform for research, production, and learning, offering substantial help and support in developing the projects selected. The proposals will be carried out in multidisciplinary task groups comprised by the author(s) and interested collaborators, with conceptual and technical advice from the teaching staff.

During the workshop, various activities will be scheduled such as talks, presentations, seminars or specific mini-workshops.

Workshop leading tutors: Ben Cerveny from Stamen, Aaron Koblin and Andrés Ortiz (Bestiario) (first week); Manuel Lima and Santiago Ortiz (Bestiario) (second week).

Technical assistants:  Daniel Artamendi Ortiz de Zarate*, Martín Nadal, Rodrigo Santamaría**
