Login_Madrid: Collective Management of Natural Resources in the Sierra Norte of Madrid

Login_Madrid proposal:

It is an outdoors journey around some specific central themes.

Central Themes

Environmental sustainability is being managed through public and state policies, as an alleged guarantee against private intensive explotation. How do these public and state regulations coexist with the uses of traditional communal natural resources?

We are witnessing a neo-rural movement: new projects are seeking economic sustainability and the explotation of the rural environment with the aid of new techonologies. What is a Commons in this neo-rural?

Program of the activity

09:00h: Departure by bus.

10:30h: Arrival to Berzosa. Walk with people of the community of "regantes" who will explain the communal management of water and show some communal infrastructure.

12:30h: Hicking trough communal meadows and pastures in El Berrueco, accompanied by people who will explain how they manage this common resource. 

14:30h: Picnic.

16:30h: Visit to the bank of living seeds and the nursery of the La Troje Association in El Berrueco. Conversation around the neo-rural and the preservation and transmission of knowledge.

18:30h: Back to Madrid by bus.

20:00h: Approximate time of arrival to Madrid. 

Practical information

Limited seats. Registration required (sign in here). A day-long activity. Confortable footwear for hicking. Picnic provided by each participant. It is ok to bring kids along. Trip by bus. The price of the bus rental will be devided by the participants with a maximum contribution of 15 € each.
